First Aid Courses
If your First Aid certificate has expired then there are courses on the following dates run by Katherine Wills. These are held near Llanberis, Snowdonia and those who have attended them have been very impressed. Helena has said it was the best one she has been to. There is a limited supply of money from WOA to contribute towards the cost which is £115 per person (£105 for students). However it is a necessary component of the coaching certificate. The courses are very popular so early booking is essential. Anyone from the South wishing to attend is welcome to stay at the Darlington household over the weekend. We live about 40mins from Llanberis.

Training Event Officials
I sometimes feel that I have been controlling for years! In fact I have been, and although there is life in me yet I feel we need to be training up the next generation of officials.
If you are considering planning or organising events, or having done so would like to control, it should be possible to set up courses in your area. Planning and organising courses are voluntary, but if you wish to control you must attend a course and have certain experience of planning and
organisation.
Courses for grade three controllers, which would enable you to officiate at colour coded events, could be organised easily on a club or region basis, and if there is demand, I will try and organise courses in your area early this autumn. If you are interested, contact your club chairman or me directly (address inside the cover).
We also need more senior controllers. Obviously this only applies to existing controllers, but if there is demand, I will organise a grade two controllers' course, probably in South Wales, or if there is not enough demand, we could send people on courses run by neighbouring associations; money is available to cover expenses.
Training to be a grade one controller is a much more serious undertaking and involves attending a nationally run BOF course.
Please think about it! We oldsters cannot go on forever and we need new blood; several long established figures have or are about to drop out or have moved away. It has been a great pleasure to me over the years to put back something into the sport and going round an area by yourself with a bit more time to stand and stare brings its own rewards.
